Hello, I would like to welcome you to
another edition of my weekly newsletter. In this edition I would like to
revisit the BEING Principle. This principle has been the basis for
several books and at least that many workshops over the years. To touch
on the basics of this concept it is "we become what we think about".
I would like to examine this idea just a
little bit more in-depth before we move on to discussing the immense
power this provides for each of us. It is this power, the power of God,
that gives each of us the ability to choose who we will be. We do this
every time we think. That's why we become what we think about -- an
awesome power, whether we've realized it or not. Often times clients of
mine hear that and think its magic. It is not magic, it is a spiritual
law. Each of us has been given this power and it's one of life's purposes to
learn how to use this power effectively. Once we have made a choice, another
spiritual law, the law of Correspondence, takes over to bring within our reach everything that belongs to
us by right of our new BEING
choice.
This takes us to the next step, moving
towards a new state of BEING. Once we have made the brave decision to
move forward towards a new state of BEING we must work at being and
becoming the one who feels worthy of having what just naturally comes
with our new state of mind. We have taken the first step out of our
box by choosing to be more than we were, but choosing out is only the
beginning. Now we must work at playing out the role; that's the
becoming part of being. Most people fizzle out during the becoming
process. Let me explain why we fail.
When we understand why most people
fail, our chances for success will improve exponentially. We fail for
two reasons:
1. Our desire for the change was
not powerful enough to overcome our ego's very powerful, built-in
resistance to change.
2. Since we were not aware of that
resistance we are not prepared to deal with it.
That resistance comes from our
self-concept which includes our individualized adaptation to our
perception of reality. In other words, our ego is our concept of our
self acting out the role in life that seems to best fit our current
concept of reality.
The fact that we have an ego will
come as no surprise to you, but you may not have noticed just how
determined our egos are to resist any change we try to make in the
status quo. Our egos feel that they must keep everything the way it is
if they are to survive. They see a change in our point of view about
life as a serious threat to their survival; they will resist any attempt
to change with all of their considerable might.
Our egos are quite aware of the
fact that changing the way we relate to money or anything else, will
change who we are, and that self-image change is what our egos must
avoid if our old image of self is to survive.
Before you close this e-mail take
a moment and see if you can hear or feel any ego resistance going on
inside you. It might be yelling at you or quietly whispering to keep
from moving forward. Next week I will be discussing working with your
ego to move past it's resistance to change.
I wish you a fulfilling and
prosperous week ahead!
