Shout "NO" To Your Spending Habits

Are you constantly frustrated with yourself because you spend to much money? Do you have a hard time budgeting or prioritizing your spending, therefore, never saving any money.

Most of us are governed by the "Spender's Law of Money". It goes like this: Your expenses will always rise to meet the level of your income unless you can stand up and shout "NO" to your spending habits. About 85% of us won't kick the spending habit and will remain poor.

The problem here, is that those governed by the spender's law, seem to think spending money and prosperity are synonymous. They're not! I will explain what prosperity really looks like, and how it feels in a moment. For now, let's see what instant-gratification prosperity really looks like.

Taken to the extreme, the idea that you can spend your way to prosperity usually brings poverty, not prosperity. The spender's attitude about money, more often than not, ends with several maxed-out credit cards and no way out except bankruptcy. Many who live under this rule, manage to stay out of trouble, but they will never be rich.

In a recent workshop, we passed $1,000 in $100 bills around the room. Each person was told to hold it, count it and put in their pocket or purse for a moment to see what it felt like to have $1,000, even for just a moment. When the exercise was complete, I asked them how it FELT TO HAVE MONEY, and did the experience change their attitude about money? For some it did!

The point I would like to make, is that you have a chosen relationship to money. Money did not choose that relationship. You did. At some point in your life, you chose who you would be in a relationship to money. And now, at some level, you are determined to maintain that exact relationship. Because of that relationship, money is either attracted to you or it flows away from you. You have to remember that you chose for it to be that way.

As long as you maintain a spender's attitude about money, you will never have any to keep and will, therefore, never be rich. In other words, you will retire poor, unless you can change your mind about who you will be in your relationship to money. Is that what you want--to retire poor? I don't think so!

If you are a spender, the only way you can ever become rich is if you choose to become a saver. The rich man's law of money reads: 10% of all you earn is yours to keep and invest. Please understand that this is not about something to DO. It is a commitment about who you will BE in your relationship to money.

The 10% you put into savings, out of every check, won't make you rich in and of itself, but as your bank account grows, you will begin to FEEL PROSPEROUS. Changing how you feel, is changing who you are being in your relationship to money. Can you see that?

 

FEELING PROSPEROUS is synonymous with having a prosperity consciousness. That prosperity consciousness WILL, at some point, make you wealthy. Your growth in consciousness will be gradual. To get the flow going in the right direction, you must first prime the pump by saving your money.

 

The Law of Money can be stated another way:

• A prosperity consciousness attracts money.

• A poverty consciousness repels money.

To really understand a prosperity consciousness, you need to realize that it is about cash flow.

• The greater the flow, the more prosperous you feel.

• The more prosperous you feel, the greater the flow. It's your attitude about money that grows as the flow increases. And that attitude change can make you rich. A poverty consciousness works exactly the same way. Except that the money flows in the opposite direction.

YOU DO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP TO MONEY. Money didn't choose the relationship. You did! You have the power to change your mind, But the question is: DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO STAND TALL AND CHOOSE A DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP?

There's a spiritual law that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. I call it the "Law of the Haves and the Have Nots". It goes like this: "To him that hath, it shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: and to him that hath not it shall be taken away, even that he hath." Matthew 13:12

That Spiritual Law was designed to push you so far into the corner financially that you would rebel against your poverty.

You will be joining the ranks of the rich only if . . . you made the decision to refuse to be ruled by the spender's law.

YOU WILL BE RICH . . . . . . . only after you decide that 10% of all you earn is yours to keep.

Please don't make the mistake of assuming that deciding to save is about changing what you DO. The creative process in man is not DO/HAVE/BE. It's BE/DO/HAVE. To reverse the flow of money, you will need to change who you are being in your relationship to money.

Your attempt to make this change will be met with a great deal of resistance by your ego who must die and be reborn into a new consciousness in order for you to have your wish.

Your ego doesn't want that to happen. We become what we feel strongly about. The ego feels very strongly about this change. To win the battle of the wills, you must counter that fear with enthusiasm.

You will need to build a great vision and develop powerful enthusiasm for THE LIFE YOU WOULD LIVE IF YOU NEVER HAD TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY AGAIN. If you can develop and empower that picture, you will have your dream of becoming financially independent.
