Hi %$firstname$%,
Ego's Defense System
Some of our past
workshop participants found it difficult to achieve the goal they set as part of the
course and were stopped dead in their tracks on the way
toward living their dream of a better life. The reason they failed in their attempt to make a
lifestyle change, was because they were unaware of, and therefore ill-equipped
to deal with their ego's defense system. Our egos use many tactics to keep us
confined in our current box.
Whenever you think about the possibility of changing the quality of your
life, your ego's first defense will be an attempt to keep you stuck where you
are now by talking you out of that notion. Ego uses mind chatter or self talk as
it's first line of defense against your new BEING choice. Once you've chosen out
of your box, however, your ego will use fear in an attempt to get you back into your box.
Lacking Staying Power
If you are out of your box,
congratulations! Give yourself a hug, and while you have your arms around
there, pat yourself
on the back! But coming out of your box is one thing; staying out is a whole
other thing.
Many who venture out of their box don't have the courage or the necessary
resolve to have the change remain permanent . From my experience, about 60% will
not have the essential
staying power. Your ego will use negative mind chatter disguised as fear to
chase the less-determined seeker of change back into their box. In other words,
even though you're out of your box, the odds are about 60% to 40% against your
being able to remain there.
The information in this newsletter can change those odds by putting you back in charge of
your life. You may have thought you were running the show called your life, but
when you find that you are still stuck in that box, it will be obvious that your ego is the one
in charge.
Why Your Ego Fears Change
Although you may lose sight of your process from time to time, the creative process
in mankind is BE DO HAVE. It works like this: You choose who you will be and then,
once your ego accepts this new reality, it takes over to provide the life experience
from that new perspective. Ego's function in life is to maintain your
chosen reality by screening out any ideas that don't fit.
Your ego sees it's job in life as survival. And since your ego's reality is made out of nothing more substantial than a preconceived notion about
the way life is supposed to be, it can't afford to have you changing your mind
about the way you want your life to be.
You'll find that modifying your point of view is a much easier task if you
can think of your ego as simply an idea come to life -- a perception of reality
that's now in charge and creates demonstration of your point of view as your life. For your ego to
survive in and as that perceived reality, your self concept and your belief system must remain in tact.
Your ego's job is to keep that perceived reality intact. Ego's defense of
that reality is a life or death matter. When you try to change your point of view,
your ego knows that it must die in order to be reborn into that new
consciousness.
We will be taking a short holiday next week but in two weeks (01/02/09) we'll look at some of the reasons we do not choose out of our
current reality.
We hope you have a safe and joyous Christmas and Seasons Greetings from our
family to yours.
