Hi %$firstname$%,
Our perceived "helplessness" stems
from ignorance
We have the power of the Universe
behind our "I am" statement. But we refuse "to take notice of" our power because
acknowledging it would destroy the victim role we've chosen to play in life.
We have the God-given power to choose to make our lives better. But by
not choosing the lives we want, we live in bondage to what we don't want, exemplifying
the Webster's dictionary
definition of ignorance!
The root word in 'ignorance' is,
ignore. According to Webster's, Ignore means:
1. to refuse to take notice of
2. to reject
God gives everyone
the power of choice. He can't help
anyone until they have chosen to
accept the help because by giving assistance without the receiver's consent,
takes away their power of choice. That means, any situation that we find to be
unsatisfying will remain hopeless until we
choose our way towards something more satisfying with a new BEING choice!
We are "helpless" by Choice
When we ignore the truth,
we've entrapped ourselves in lives that do not satisfy our needs, wants and
desires. We've chosen ignorance instead of awareness because we're afraid of the
truth. We ignore our potential to be liberate because it will not fit our
current chosen
concept of reality.
So, we live in a perceived reality
made up of nothing more substantial than attitudes, opinions and point of view.
Those ideas are designed to keep us trapped. When we experience our lives as our egos
determined to maintain our chosen viewpoint at the exclusion of any and all other
viewpoints to
the contrary. We can't hear the truth, because we don't want to hear it.
We're captive to our reality, not
because we're lacking intelligence; we're entrapped because we are either
unaware or misinformed about the truth. And our lack of perception is not
because the information has not been available to us, but because we've chosen
to ignore it.
Ignorance of the
truth
is the root
cause of human bondage. -- Ernest Holmes
So, What Truth Have We
Ignored?
We've discussed in this
newsletter many times that we are "created in the image and likeness of God". We
choose to ignore that truth or if we do recognize the truth we twist it to fit
our reality because it didn't agree with what we have chosen to believe. When Christ said, "The
kingdom of God is within you" we chose not to understand the true
meaning. Christ also said, "the truth will set you free," we may have
failed to ask, "what truth?" and "free of what?".
We are bound by a
concept of reality that is designed to prevent us from knowing who we really are.
Our jail keeper is our ego, determined to keep us from finding our way out of
our confinement. We will discover the key to our cage once we accept the fact
that our reality is nothing more than a point of view that can be
easily changed.
We will be free of our
old
concept of reality that doesn't work for us, once we rediscover our power to
choose another reality. We will be free once we have proven to ourselves that we
are, indeed, an individualization of God with the power to create any reality we give ourselves permission to choose! To be free
our ego's limitations, we must
become more aware of ego's defense system.
Our Ego is our
self-concept, functioning in and as
our
individualized adaptation to our perception of reality.
Next week we will
discuss how ego uses many tactics to keep us confined in our box.
