Hi %$firstname$%,
What does a transformation
look like?
How do you know when you've
been transformed? What does that feel like? How will your life be different
after a transformation?
Being transformed can be a grand and glorious experience, especially if
it stems from a revelation, a new sense of awareness that shows up as
re-discovered inner personal power. This sort of transformation comes from
finding the courage to face a problem and rise above it; it comes from
finding your inner power in the process of choosing to be more than you
were.
When I experienced this sort of transformation, I found that I needed
and wanted less sleep. I got up every morning, wide awake, excited about
the new day before me. I couldn't wait to get to work where I experienced BEING the enthusiastic new
person that I had just uncovered. I
felt unstoppable in everything I attempted; I loved life and enjoyed
what I was doing. That was my experience of being transformed, but all
transformations do not necessarily follow this pattern.
An immediate transformation
One Sunday morning years ago,
while searching for a solution to the problem of my failing business, I sat
reading Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. Halfway through Hill's
book, I was transformed with a force that was not unlike being struck by a
bolt of lightning. It was like a bright light had gone off in my head.
I was in awe of the truth that had just dawned on me, and in that moment,
I went from being fearful and despondent to being wildly enthusiastic and
excited about my future. What truth changed my life forever? We become
what we think about.
My transformation was like going from darkness into the light! When you
have this sort of transformation, your friends will take one look at you and
ask, "Wow! What happened to you, and where can I go to get what you
have?"
Some transformations happen
slowly
Sometimes a growth in
consciousness can only be measured by looking back, and seeing who you were
six month ago, compared to who you are now. For the slow transformations,
you
don't really see or feel the changes happening. And afterward, the ego often
wants to pretend that it didn't happen. Your ego doesn't want you to
know that you have transformational capabilities.
You've been in the process of being transformed all your life, and my
guess is that you've forgotten what it's like to be transformed. That's
because most of your changes in consciousness were gradual and unnoticed.
They happened slowly, like growing taller.
Being transformed simply means you've changed your mind about who you
are. In most cases, your ego will pretend that you've always been this way.
But sometimes, the change is too dramatic to ignore.
The best example of a transformation is that of the caterpillar waking up
one day to discover that it has wings and can fly. Isn't it time you found
your wings?
Do less, BE more
Once you're fired up with enthusiasm, you'll begin the process of building your new
box, enamored with what you are doing to accomplish your mission. I
suggest you focus your attention more on the BEING than on the doing.
Once you get your new box built, you may forget what it was like to be
enthusiastic and on purpose. You may put your ego back in charge doing and having, not being.
When a new Being choice is required you will again begin to feel trapped. Sorry. That's just the way the
Game is played.
You can stay in the winner's circle of the Game of Life if you keep
remembering that you are not your ego. You can find your way out of the
old box trap if you keep remembering that the
purpose of the Game is self discovery. Know that you will only find your
true self whenever you find the courage to step out of the box with a new
BEING choice.
To continue moving forward in Life's Game, you will need to continually remind yourself, that the Game is not about having, it's about BEING
This is the conclusion of Chapter 11 Being Transformed. Next week we will
begin Chapter 12 Understanding Ego's Resistance.
