Welcome to this week’s edition
of Richbits Newsletter. In this week’s edition we continue our look at the nine
steps to change. This week we will begin our discussion of step five.
Not sure if we have
chosen?
If we haven’t made our move
If this is our problem, if we think we have chosen but
haven’t made a move in that direction, if nothing’s happening, we probably
haven’t chosen. If we had really chosen, we would have come alive with
enthusiastic anticipation of achieving our new goal in life. If we don’t yet
feel that new burst of energy, we might want to think about re-lighting a fire
under our enthusiasm.
The fifth step in finding our way out of our box:
…choose to BE the one who will have what
we want from life.
But remember this: choosing to have what we want is a
BEING choice.
The intention of this series in the newsletter is to
bring you, step by step, to the point of choosing to BE who you’d need to be
to have the life you’ve always wanted. If we have faithfully followed the
first four steps, we should be certain by now, about what we want. We should
know that we have the power to choose it, and be bursting with enthusiastic
anticipation for having it. With that level of commitment, we would be
choosing it without a moment’s hesitation.
If you haven’t yet chosen your new reality, the question
you should be asking yourself is, “Has what I’ve read, so far, moved me to the
point of choosing to BE the one who will have that better life I’ve always
wanted? Have I really chosen?”
Life is
about choice
The Game of Life has been set up so that the path toward
finding ourselves requires a conscious, determined decision, from time to
time, to BE whoever we would need to BE in order to have our life BE the way
we want it. Following our decision to BE, we will be proving ourselves to
ourselves by choosing to DO whatever we need to DO for as long as
necessary for HAVING life BE that great. It’s called persistence!
Whether we are working on our health, the relationship in
our lives or our finances, to go from poor to rich, we must first emphatically
resolve that we will no longer be poor, and then, with powerful determination,
choose to experience BEING rich. Our transformation begins with choosing to BE
rich and continues with the process of BEING and BECOMING rich. When we can
see that we are actually doing something with the expressed purpose of making
us richer, we will know we are on the right track – that we have actually
chosen to be rich.
Doing is BEING in action.
Without the DOING, the BEING is only a pipe dream.
Being and
becoming
The being and becoming process might best be explained by
the example of planting two different types of seeds in our garden. Let’s say
we plant tomatoes and cucumbers. Notice that the tomato seed takes a different
set of ingredients from the soil than does the seed that produces a cucumber
vine, yet the soil in our garden is the same for each of them.
Choosing to be rich is like planting an “I’m gonna be
rich” seed in the garden of our mind. Once we have chosen to be rich, the
Universe steps in and makes available everything that belongs with our new
BEING choice – in the form of opportunities. We will find opportunities to
save money, to invest our saved money, and we will find ways that we could
increase our income. These are new options, new choices we must make on our
way towards becoming rich.
But there
are still choices to be made
Choosing to be rich does not automatically present riches
to us on a silver platter; it only provides us with opportunities. These new
possibilities are a sort of test in the Game of Life, a way for us to learn
whether or not we are truly serious about becoming rich. If we can’t choose
and get excited about one of these opportunities offered, we must conclude
that we are not serious about becoming rich.
After the initial choice, we must still choose again and
again in the being and becoming process. There will be a new choice to make
each time we come to a fork in the road, each time an opportunity for becoming
rich becomes available. If we have truly chosen to be rich, we will have no
problem choosing appropriate opportunities. Like the tomato seed knows what it
needs to grow a tomato plant, we will automatically know what belongs with the
new us and what doesn’t.
If we are not being and becoming rich in all areas of our
life, including growing spiritually, it’s because we haven’t been playing the
game the way it was set up. The whole idea is to promote our growth, and move
us down the path toward self-discovery. And if that’s not happening, we are,
presumably, not sure what it is that we are trying to prove with our life. In
fact, we most likely haven’t even noticed that we had a choice in the matter
of who we would be.
Choices are
not always what they seem
God gave us the power of choice, and we have been using
that power all our lives, totally unaware of the true significance of our
choosing. In most cases, we made the mistake of assuming that our choices were
about deciding to have what we wanted. But that’s not what was going on when
we chose to buy our new car.
When we went looking at new cars, we thought we were only
trying to decide which make and style of car we wanted so we could pick our
favorite color and order it, but that probably wasn’t true.
When we told that car dealer we were just looking, what
we really meant was that we hadn’t really made ‘having that new car’ okay with
ourselves. Think about that. If we will think back to how we acted, once we
had made it okay to have that new car, we will remember that it took only
about ten minutes to decide on the make, color and style.
The most
important step
For every major decision we have made in life, we have
overlooked the most important step in the process of choosing. Before we can
choose which car to buy, we must first choose to BE the one who can have a new
car. And often, after taking the BEING step, we tend to forget that we’ve
taken it, because our ego doesn’t want us aware that we have the power to
change our minds about who or what we will be.
Whenever it’s time to choose something we seriously want
from life, we would be wise to remind ourselves that the real choices to be
made are in choosing to BE the one who can have it. We gain a great deal in
personal power each time we consciously make a new choice about who we will
be. We empower ourselves each time we say, “I’m worth it!” – and then when we
choose it!
