1. Let’s talk about barriers.
    I have a doctor friend who earns an income far above the average.
    For years, I tried to talk him into investing his surplus income into
    ways that would earn him residual income, but my words of wisdom
    were falling on deaf ears. Why? He couldn’t hear me because he
    had a barrier to becoming rich.

    Then one day, we began to look for his barrier to becoming rich.
    And here’s what we found:

    When he was seven, riding in the back seat of his parent’s car, he
    overheard his parents comment on their neighbor’s new car. Here’s
    what he heard them say, “They must have stolen the money to buy
    that car. They couldn’t possibly have come by it honestly!”

    Based on that prejudiced remark, his seven-year-old mind concluded:
    “Rich people are the bad guys. I’ll never want to be one of them!”

    His barrier, like all barriers, was built out of flimsy logic, a wicker
    basket that could never hold water long enough to get the basket out
    of the well.

A barrier to another form or riches
    I spent a number of my early years believing that nobody loved me.
    Where did that conclusion come from? When I was maybe 4 ½
    years old I followed my older brother to school one day. When he
    finally noticed me, we were only a half block from his school. He
    chased me all the way home, angry because I was making him late
    for school.

    Like my nobody-loves-me barrier, all self-limiting barriers are
    ridiculous, erroneous conclusions based on emotional reactions to
    some insignificant happening, or on some form of misinformation.
    As flimsy as they may be, those barriers are there, standing
    between you and your being able to have the life you want.

    If you are not rich, it is because you have some sort of barrier that
    stands between you and your choosing to BE rich.

    Almost everyone wants something from life that they don’t have.
    They don’t have it because they haven’t chosen to BE the one to
    whom that something belongs. They haven’t chosen to BE that
    successful because they have hidden barriers to making that
    BEING commitment.

    My first book, asks the question, So, Why Aren’t You Rich? with the
    intention of putting you in touch with your barrier to becoming rich.

    exercises designed to help you remove those barriers.
