Hello, and welcome to the first day of February (Friday 02/01/08). I
hope you have been experiencing prosperity and abundance during the first
month of the year and are ready to continue that into February. In this
edition of the newsletter I want to continue our discussion we began last
week talking about the BEING Principle. Today I would like to begin
talking about our ego and how through learning how it works and what it's
purpose is we can learn to peacefully coexist.
I would like to just briefly touch on a point I made during last week's
newsletter. Our egos feel that they must keep
everything the way it is if they are to survive. They see a change in our
point of view about life as a serious threat to their survival; they will
resist any attempt to change with all of their considerable might. When we
choose a better life we may be totally unaware of our powerful ego's
resistance to change. Consequently our dreams are shot down with our ego's
"yeah but's," and "what if's." In order to successfully make this change
we want, we must have a burning desire to change. To have this burning
desire lead to the change we want it is necessary for us to find the
support that we will need to reinforce and encourage us to make it past
our weaker moments. Next week's newsletter we will look at locating and
building the necessary support system for change.
From time to time we all have second thoughts about
our decisions to make changes in our lives. In every weak moment, when our
thoughts turn away from our vision to consider the possibilities of our
failure, our ego will put fear into our hearts. This fear is not something
we should run from but, instead face it. When we are feeling this fear, it
is our opportunity to see just how in control our ego is in running our
lives and now is the time to take back the controls.
That ego-resistance shows up as the reasons why we
shouldn't, couldn't or wouldn't complete our mission. When we originally
chose not to go for our goals, we gave ourselves what we thought were good
reasons for that decision. We have been justifying our choices with those
reasons, ever since. Now that we have made a new decision, those reasons
will confront us in the from of mind chatter.
Here are a few examples of what mind chatter might
look like after we have made a decision to change.
But what if I fail?
I could lose it all!
I tried before and failed; what makes me think this time will be
different?
Is this just another one of my pipe dreams?
Our way past
the mind chatter and ego's fear of change is not to fight with our ego,
but to understand its fears so that we will know how to deal with them.
The idea is to get our ego working with us on building our dreams.
I hope you have an enjoyable and safe weekend. Thank
you for reading my newsletter and I look forward to seeing you next week.
