If Your Job No Longer Suits
You
Giving up the security in a job you
don't like, a success story from LG.
Dear Darel -
I am in a job that was right for me
four years ago but by adding value and giving more, I because bigger than the
job.
I work for a used bookstore that is
doing a booming business in a university town in the South. I can buy anything
in the bookstore at cost. I am surrounded by books and by people who love to
read. When the bookstore does better business than the previous year, I get a
bonus.
It sounds like a dream job, right?
But when I started following some of the principles in books like "Think and
Grow Rich" and "The Science of Getting Rich" and "The Power Pause" I gave so
much more to the job that I guess some people felt threatened or something.
Even comments from the owner showed
that she did not value the extra things I was doing to improve customer
satisfaction. She even said, "Oh, they'll come anyway no matter what we do." It
was then that I realized I valued our customers more than the owner who employed
me.
As much as it appeared to be a dream
job, I also noticed that my values were very different from my fellow employees.
I wanted to be doing something for my company when I was on the clock even when
there were no customers to serve, so I started cleaning and organizing areas
that had been dirty and disorganized for months.
I enjoyed giving an extra effort but
fellow employees made fun of my industriousness. I even got reprimanded for
being too helpful to customers. I began to realize that I was not as happy at
this job as I should be considering all the benefits.
I applied the principle of seeing
myself doing what I would love most to do... have more time to read and to write
and to make a real difference in people's lives by sharing some of the things
that I'm learning with them.
Within a few weeks, someone offered
me a place to stay for much less rent than I had been paying in the university
town. I would be able to take a part-time job near a country setting (which I
had also visualized) and do something on the side that would be taking a step
toward building a residual income through working out of my home (which is also
what I visualized.)
I have now turned in my resignation
letter and will be free of the "secure" job where I had become a misfit and
outcast by growing into a more effective employee. I will soon be free of a
company where that improvement was not recognized and appreciated.
Already I am practicing "Being The
Solution" to what I will do next. Instead of worrying and being afraid, one
thing at a time, everything is falling into place and I am happier and more
hopeful than I have ever been of an even-more richer and rewarding life in which
I will truly be free to be all that I can be.
Thank you for truly making a
difference in my life. -- LG
What You Could Have Learned from LG's new BEING Choice
One of the most difficult decisions you can make in life
is to give up the security of a job that no long pleases or nourishes you.
One question you can ask yourself, "Do you like what you
do for a living?" Most people will answer "NO" to that question
Many of them don't like the jobs because they're not happy
with their wages.
-
One solution to not liking your job is to figure out
what your job would be like if you liked it. Then choose to BE that person.
-
One solution to the wage problem is to start trading
service for the dollars you earn instead of trading hours for dollars.
Notice that this is what Lydia did in her job at the bookstore. When you
start thinking in terms of service, you'll be worth twice as much. Even if
you don't get the raise you want, your self worth will go up in the process.
-
Once you're worth more you can ask for more money and
if you don't get it, find the job where they'll pay you what you're worth.
In the above example, Lydia visualized what she wanted
instead of thinking about what she didn't like about her job.
It is important to realize from all of this, that no
matter what the problem, the solution is always the same!
Three questions to ask yourself every day.
With everything you do, every day, you should be asking
yourself this question, over and over again.
Why am I doing this?
You'll be amazed at what that question will do for you.
Here's what will happen.
-
You'll be surprised at how many things you do in life
that provide no real satisfaction or nurturing. Once you ask yourself why,
those activities without real benefit will fall by the wayside and you'll
have more time for things that really matter to you.
-
If you've made a recent BEING Shift, this question
will remind you again and again, what the real benefit will be if you can
persist in that BEING commitment until it becomes locked in as your new
reality.
Here's how that "Why am I doing this?" question breaks
down.
-
What's the prize if I keep doing this?
-
What is it costing me?
-
Is it really worth it?
If you've just recently chosen a new way of BEING, the
question continually reinforces your reason for that BEING SHIFT.

Chapter 4 - The Will of God
"To God Or As God" - Pg. 43
God's help comes to us in the form of inspiration. The
word inspire, means "breath life into". That new aliveness in us comes into
being once we've made a new being commitment. In that moment when you feel
inspired to make your next move out of the box, that inspiration is God
'breathing life into your idea.'
Thy will be done
-
The will of God is that you exercise the BEING
Principle, consciously creating your own reality.
-
The will of God is that you continue to grow in
consciousness, becoming more consciously aware that your true identity is
spirit.
Your true mission in life is self-discovery. You are
powerful beyond your wildest dream. Your job is to discover that power by using
it, consciously, to manifest your magnificent obsession. The trick is to not be
come attached to those manifested results.

Chapter 3 -
The Success Secret
from my book
"So, Why Aren't You Rich?" -
Pg. 80
"I AM" EXERCISE
Sense the Power of Your Word
As an experiment, see if you can discover the power in
your word. Try saying "I Am" without adding anything to the statement. Say "I
Am," and then just contemplate for a moment the reality of your existence. Don't
think for now about who or what you are. Just contemplate the fact that you
are, that you exist. Forget your circumstances for a moment and just
BE. Say "I Am," and just be there with the thought of BEing. See
if you can begin to sense the power behind your word. The purpose of life is to
discover who you really are. Well, who are you, really? Take time to answer that
question if you can.

Chapter 7 - Creating A Burning
Desire
from my book
"Being The Solution" -
Pg. 72 & 73
When You Want It This Much
In seeking an example that would help you
understand the importance of a burning desire, I'm reminded of the story
about a man seeking wisdom, who asked a monk to enlighten him. The monk
responded by taking the man out on the lake, where he instructed him to
jump out of the boat. Then, when the man tried to get back into boat,
the monk pushed his head under the water and held it there for quite a
long while.
The man came up fighting mad, sputtering and
gasping for air. Angrily he asked, "Why did you do that?" The monk
answered, "When you come to me wanting a spiritual awakening as
desperately as you wanted air just now, I will give you enlightenment."
When you seek a solution to your problem as
desperately as that man wanted air, you'll have no trouble with finding
your way past the problem to its solution. And having chosen your BEING
Solution to that problem, your Inner Light will just naturally shine
brighter. With each new BEING choice you'll find further enlightenment!
