When Ego Is In Charge, Life Is A Rat Race
Is life a race race for you? If you said "yes" you might
want to notice that you are the rat who's chasing the cheese.
You might also want to notice that all the stuff you've
been manifesting is just stuff. That stuff is important to the process of
finding your power, but it is not the real cheese. The real cheese in life is
love, peace, happiness, joy and satisfaction. We sometimes assume that acquiring the
stuff gives us the cheese. It won't. It can't.
So, this week I would like you to do an exercise for each
day that would allow you to go beyond the stuff and just go for the real cheese.
Day
One: Go for the joy.
- The word enjoy actually means, "put
joy into". So just for practice, see how much of your life and your day you can
put joy into your conversations or anything that just happens to be going on in
each moment.
Day Two: Choose to BE happy all day. -
Happiness is a BEING choice, pure and simple. So instead of hoping the next deal
is going to make you happy, just choose to BE happy no matter what's going on.
See what it feels like to have a happy day. But be careful with this, it might
become a habit!
Day Three: Practice unconditional love.
- Unconditional love is the space we
create for each other to be who we are with no intent to fix or change. The best
place to apply this throughout the day is to be a good listener. See if you can
listen to everyone in your life today, with no intent to fix or change.
Day Four: Go for the peace.
- The rat race can be stressful at
times, but it doesn't have to be that way. Stress is a make-it-happen
phenomenon. Instead of making it happen, make it a habit to do the Power Pause
prior to everything on your to do list today. See if you can create the calm in
what otherwise might be a storm. Notice that the success happened without the
stress!
Day
Five: Be in awe of the beauty.
- How much of life are you missing because you are too busy to notice? A
great many things in life are beautiful, but if you're not present to that
beauty, you'll miss it. See how many things in your life you can appreciate as
beautiful. Take time to watch a bird, a beautiful sunset, or to smell the roses.
You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Day
Six: Go for the satisfaction.
- Many of us mistake happiness
and satisfaction as being one and the same. They're not. Satisfaction is the
completion of anything attempted and happiness is simply a BEING choice. See how
many things you can accomplish today, and notice that what you're feeling is the
satisfaction of completion. The real benefit here is to notice the distinction
between happiness and satisfaction.
Day
Seven: Go for the gratitude.
- Reflect on what a wonderful
week you've had. You went for the joy, peace and happiness and totally changed
the quality of your day. Write the week's successes in your gratitude journal.
Be in awe of how powerful you are and then Be grateful that you now have control
over the quality of your life.
And finally, make up your
mind to repeat the process, create one successful week after another. Your job
is to remember that the real cheese in life is in love, peace, joy, happiness
and satisfaction.

Love Yourself First
Of course, the change you want in another must begin
with you. The rule is: you must be the change you want to see happen. If you
want someone in your life to change, begin by asking yourself who YOU would be
BEING if they had already changed.
The results of applying unconditional love to your
relationships will amaze you. But before you can give a thing, you must first
own it, so you must begin the process by loving yourself unconditionally.

The upper level of mental life of which the person
is aware, contrasted with the unconscious process.
Consciousness is the quality of being self-aware. This
awareness of something within oneself is nothing less than the Spirit of God
within us, contemplating itself as being. Spirit is the self-knowing part of
consciousness.
The power generated in the process of
self-contemplation comes from speaking your word. The action in being conscious
is in saying I AM, and completing the sentence. As you SAY, so shall you reap.
