What We Resist Persists
How many times have you heard that? I bet you never thought about it in terms
of resisting-the-resistance.
We know our ego resists change and we have powerful tools for dealing with
ego resistance. But maybe what we haven't allowed ourselves to see, is that when we resist the resistance, ego resistance MUST persist. Isn't that interesting?
You want the resistance to go away and it can't go away until you make it
totally okay to be there.
This is just another of life's paradoxes. Ego resistance WILL persist, until
you stop resisting-the-resistance. You might want to write that down and ask
yourself "Am I resisting my ego's resistance to change?"
Let me repeat that rule:
What I resist must
persist,
so my ego's
resistance, in whatever form,
must continue for
as long as I resist that resistance.
For instance, when you are experiencing fear, self-doubt or worry, your
tendency will be to make yourself wrong for experiencing that emotion. I mean,
after all, you've chosen out of the box, made a new BEING choice, you want to
manifest great results and be transformed.
How could you consider yourself transformed and still be experiencing fear or
self-doubt? Isn't that what you're thinking?
Well, guess what, you will be saddled with that resistance for as long as
you refuse to make the fear, self-doubt and worry okay. What you need to see is
that the pain is part of any healing process. In other words, you have to
experience the fear and make that okay, before it can go away.
Feelings can be resisted, such as when we "put on a happy face", making
believe we are above the self-doubt or worry. The truth is emotions have power
and can be used to lead us to new being choices. In fact, for as long as we
resist the feeling, we're actually inhibiting our abilities to understand and
choose freely.
When painful feelings are resisted, they persist and gather strength in what
we might call stress. Stress is what happens when we resist the resistance. And
when those feelings are allowed, while maintaining an observer role, the
feelings pass through and there's no residual, in fact, on the other side of
allowing yourself to experience the feelings, you can reconnect to the joy of
what is in the NOW, the fear of "what might be" is gone.
If we get all "in our head" about our
feelings and discount the "that's just resistance", a form of
resistance-to-the-resistance, it is our way of trying to overcome mentally what
our heart feels emotionally. Experiencing the feelings is just another way of
being real and IN THE MOMENT.
We can now enjoy the light more because
we have allowed the experienced of being in the dark. But don't be tricked by
your ego into identifying with your feelings, alone. You are not your feelings
and you don't need to BEcome mad or sad. When you allow yourself to BE human
and allow your feelings to come and go, they will come and go without getting
stuck. They won't build a wall of resistance or a victim story.
Is there anything you are pushing away
or holding at bay that is creating resistance? What if you found a quiet place
and practiced allowing? Allow the feelings. Stare down "the worst that could
happen" and find a way to make it okay. In that moment, when it no long "has a
hold on you", what do you then experience?

That's the value of mastering the
allowing. And that's the value of the further distinction between being real,
accepting and allowing your true feelings and resisting-the-resistance.

Chapter 7 - Trapped In Your Act
"To God Or As God" - Pg. 78
On The Merry-Go-Round
Having an act is a little like riding the horse on a
merry-go-round. As the horse goes up and down, the merry-go-round goes round and
round. The ups and downs are your mood swings. Each revolution is the repeating
pattern of the same results you always manifest when running your act. Those
results won't change until you step off the merry-go-round.
In the meantime, you'll always be reaching out, hoping
each time around, you'll catch the brass ring. That brass ring you're reaching
for is happiness. But you won't find it because it isn't out there to be found.
Chasing happiness is like trying to catch a live blue bird in your hands.
You'll never catch it until you've stopped chasing it.
Happiness is not a thing to be found; it's just a BEING choice. Once you've
stopped running after it, you'll choose it

Chapter 2 -
Our Resistance To Change
from my book
"So, Why Aren't You Rich?" -
Pg. 39
The Only Way Out of Poverty
For the ego, giving up those reasons is NOT just the
simple act of changing your mind about something you believe to be true. Giving
up reasons is actually a transformation where our ego gives up it's victim role
and is reborn with a new concept of self.
What dies in the transformation process
is our concept of self that needs to explain its failure.
Born out of that transformation
is a new self-concept with the courage to act--
a self no longer fearing failure nor needing excuses.
The act of changing your mind, a transformation, is the
only way out of poverty. It is the simple, but never easy solution to any form
of poverty, whether you're talking about health, wealth or personal power.

Chapter 2 - Nine Steps To
Personal Freedom
from my book
"Being The Solution" -
Pg. 22
A Grand And Glorious Experience
Your ego fears change, because changing who you
are BEING, for the ego, is like dying in order to be reborn into a new
reality. It is only natural that the ego would do everything within its
power to avoid dying.
Of course, being reborn into a new way of life,
like a caterpillar being reborn as a butterfly, is a grand and glorious
experience. But your ego doesn't see it that way. Your ego sees change
as the death of who you are being. Your ego hopes you never discover
that your lack of abundance is simply a consequence of your BEING
choice. Your ego hides this truth, because it does not want you making a
new choice. It doesn't want you changing who you are.
