Unloading Your Camel
I'm sure you've all heard the bible quote, "And again I say unto you, It is
easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to
enter into the kingdom of God".
What does that bible quote really mean? Since a camel obviously could not fit
through the eye of the needle, one would assume, from Christ's metaphor, that it
would be next to impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom.
Most people have interpreted that bible quote to mean just that. But that's
not what He meant, not at all. Christ was not telling us riches are evil or that
rich people are the bad guys. Well then, what did He mean?
Here's my interpretation: In the time when Christ was reported as saying
that, over 2000 years ago, ancient cities has two walls, and outer and an inner
wall. The inner wall was a security device, their way of keeping robbers and
thieves out of the inner city.
The small guarded opening through that inner city wall was, (guess what),
shaped like the eye of a needle. In fact, the opening was so small a fully
loaded camel would not pass through. So, any rich man who wanted his favorite
camel with him in the inner city, had to first unload his camel.
What you want to accomplish in life is outside the box. Having it requires
entering the kingdom. To have what you want, you must grow in consciousness.
That growth in consciousness is what Christ meant by entering the kingdom.
So, where and what is the kingdom? Christ said, "The kingdom of heaven is
within you." You've lived most of your life as your ego; as ego you live in a
box. Whatever you want from life that you do not have is outside the box where
you live.
I want you to see that all of us are that rich man Christ spoke about. The
riches on our loaded camel, the load the prevents our entering the kingdom are
the self-limiting ideas to which we have become attached.
You see, until you give up the idea that you are not good enough, smart
enough, wise enough, skilled enough, you can't enter the kingdom.
I'm here to tell you that the door to the kingdom opens inward, and you won't
be entering the kingdom until you've unloaded off your camel the self-limiting
ideas that are keeping you stuck.
Your current reality concept is a box. Everything you believe about yourself
is your box. The kingdom, is that place in your heart where the spirit of
aliveness in you lives, it's that place where life is a daring adventure, where
anything you could ever want is possible. So, what is the load on your camel's
back?
Your riches, whatever you are hanging on to that prevents you from moving on
to the next plateau is your load. We become attached to whatever we've created,
because we fear loosing it.
In order to enter the kingdom we need to move into spirit, letting go of
ego's attachment and giving up our fear of loss. By unloading our camel and
stepping out of our current box we will grow our consciousness and our
self-confidence.

Chapter 11 - Who's In Charge
from my book
"So, Why Aren't You Rich?" -
Pg. 269 & 270
Your ego is merely an actor playing a role in a
play that you wrote. As Spirit, you chose who you would be, and your
ego, as your good servant, is acting out the role you chose for it. As
soon as you remember that you have the power to rewrite the script, you
will easily solve your problems.
Your problem is that you have forgotten who you
are, an individualization of God. You have forgotten that, as Spirit,
you have the power to choose a new reality any time you please. In the
process of forgetting, you left ego in charge, and therein lies the
problem.
