By Defending
Poverty -
You Create More Of It
I am always surprised when
people complain about a lack of money and when asked why they aren't
rich they avoid answering the question or they will say they never
really wanted to be rich.
Many who have chosen to live a
life of financial lack would like to change their minds, but are somehow
stuck with their story, which is their defense, their way of explaining
their lack of money or anything else.
Those who choose not to be rich
in any way, decided that becoming rich was a non-spiritual journey.
Somewhere along the way, they missed the point. Finding God in your life
is a self-discovery process. Choosing to be rich or poor, either way, is
just part of the self-discovery process.
On page 67 of the "Science of
Mind Textbook", Ernest Holmes said, "There can be no conscious
intelligence unless it is conscious of something. To be spiritual is to
create."
You are a spiritual being. This
means, you have no choice in whether or not you will be creative. It
also means that you have used your creative power to create your current
reality, like it or not.
Your choice was never in
whether or not to create, but in WHAT you would create with the powers
given you. Well, take a look at what
you've created. Is that what you really wanted? Have you chosen wisely,
or would you choose again if you had your way?
If you had your way! That's a
joke. You've had your way. You DO HAVE
the power of choice and you have chosen.
If you are still defending your
lack of anything, know this: You are poor if you lack anything you need
to make your life whole and complete. That includes love, self-respect,
good health, even money.
You must remember that
poverty is nothing more or less than a state of mind.
Knowing that, why would
choose lack of any sort and then defend that state of mind as if it was
the right choice?

Chapter 1 -
The Magic Of Being Transformed
from my book
"So, Why Aren't You Rich?" -
Pg. 16
...No one really wants to be poor, and if they
are poor, no one likes to admit that they chose poverty as a way of
life. We'd rather blame our circumstances than admit to ourselves that
we chose in error.
Unfortunately, you will remain the powerless
victim of your circumstances as long as you continue to deny
accountability for your financial condition. The power to change your
circumstances will be found only when and if you realize that you chose
what you have. In other words,
if you want to be rich, you must first admit to
yourself,
that you've made a rather foolish choice:
YOU CHOSE TO BE POOR.
Accepting the responsibility for that choice is a
tall barrier
which most of us will refuse to cross.

Chapter 1 - Poverty Is A State Of
Being
from my book
"Being The Solution" -
Pg. 11 & 12
If you've been telling yourself that you are
"already rich", you may want to do the Rich/Poor Exercise on Page 12.
Your "I'm already rich" story may have kept you from seeing that you
were not as rich as you thought in some other areas in your life. You
might even find that you are better off than you thought.
Almost without exception, we each lack
something we think we need to make our lives whole and complete. It
doesn't matter whether that lack is of love, health, or financial
independence, lack in any form points to a need for further spiritual
growth. More than anything else, most of us lack the spiritual awareness
that would allow us to know who we really are.
