How Determined Are
You?
You will know if you are
serious about becoming healthier, wealthier and/or happier only if you
have chosen the path you intend to take to get you there. Until you've
made a move in the direction of making it happen, it's all talk and no
walk. That's a little like saying you want, some day, to take your kids
to Disney World, but never choosing a time.
Your planned trip to Disney
World is just a conversation, until you buy your tickets and pack your
suitcases. And like your trip to Florida, you will begin to know your
desire to become healthier, wealthier and happier is more than a want
when you start looking for a way to make it happen. Even then, you won't
know for sure until you actually make your move on your dream. So, how
determined are you?
I know someone who talked and
talked about learning how to ride a motorcycle. This went on for 4 or 5
years. One day she made up her mind, looked up motorcycles classes,
picked the day and time and sent in her money. This was really a big
step for her, but she did it. Her class was over a weekend, a Saturday and
Sunday morning. When she found out she passed the final driving test on Sunday
and could now officially ride motorcycles, she was ecstatic. But until
she actually made the move, learning to ride a motorcycle was only a
dream, all talk - no walk.
But keep this in mind while
you're looking for your means-by-which; waiting to learn how it might
happen before you choose, is like waiting for your ship to come in when
you never sent one out. You may be using "I don't know how" as an excuse
for not choosing. If that's the case, you may never get past wanting it
to the point of actually choosing it.
Having what you want in life
is never about "how to". Once you've
chosen to go to Disney World, whether you drive or fly, there is a
secondary issue. You must see, from the above examples, that
knowing how you will get there doesn't come
into the picture until you've made up your mind to go.
The same will be true with your
choosing to be healthier, wealthier and happier. The "how to" is not the
important factor in the choosing-to-be process. If your desire to change
your life is strong enough, you will choose the goal for yourself and
having chosen, you will then find YOUR way to make it happen.
Choosing to change your life in
anyway can sometimes be a major event in many people's lives. But, in
the process of choosing that reality for yourself, you would have
recreated yourself. Most people wouldn't think that going to a
motorcycle class was that big a deal, but it was huge for my friend. When
she was done she had grown her consciousness in a way she had never
believed possible.
Every act of creation starts
with the end result. Those who want all the pieces of the puzzle in
place before they choose, seldom ever choose. It always starts with the
choice.
So, forget the details and just
choose. Once you choose, I promise you, the pieces will start to fall
into place.

The
Process of Self-Discovery
When we consider changing our self-image,
creating a new reality, the alternative is to remain stuck in the old
one. There's nothing wrong with staying where you are, if you are sure
that's where you want to be. But if you're looking to change your life,
"NO" is the powerful word that prepares the way for the "YES" that starts
the creative process.
When we suddenly rediscover the courage and the
power to
say "NO" to the security of our old reality, we
have at that
moment, experienced a rebirth in consciousness.
We have broken our attachment to the current
reality, and have become momentarily free. Our freedom will be
short-lived, however, because the creative process is a repeating
pattern. Each time we have used this process of BE/DO/HAVE to create a
new reality for ourselves, we have necessarily grown in consciousness.
But this new reality is just another one to which we will soon become
attached.

The gap between wanting and choosing
Unless you're above average in grit and
personal power, you probably won't have the determination it takes to
choose out of your box. I'm saying this to challenge you, because I've
noticed that most of those who say they want out of their box never
actually choose out. I suspect they got stuck in wanting because they
didn't know the difference between wanting and choosing.
Wanting is what you do from inside the box, the
box that is keeping you from HAVING what you want. Choosing out of your
box is a brave new step that most won't take because it's outside their
comfort zone.
Crossing the gap between want and choosing
requires a giant leap of faith in yourself.\
