To learn how
the cycle works, let's take an imaginary trip around it. Although you
probably haven't been aware of it, you've made this trip many times. Our make
believe trip will help you remember some of your previous trips and let you find
your current place on the cycle. The benefit of
finding yourself on this cycle will be like finding a road map when you are
lost.
One would
naturally assume that the starting place for our sample trip would be at
Create,
but that's never where the creative process really begins. Every
transformation you've ever had, started with
Destroying
your attachment to whatever stood between you and being transformed. Out guided
tour of the cycle will start with
Destroy
and end with
Destroy.
Notice, in this
illustration, that
Destroy takes up the entire right half of the
circle. We spend half of our lives on the down side of the cycle, only because
we make detaching ourselves from our latest creation difficult. It doesn't need
to be that way. The detachment process ends only when you get around to the
point of choosing a new reality for yourself.
Try To
Remember
To get a feel
for your guided tour, try to remember a time in your life when your situation
seemed hopeless. What comes to mind for me is a time when I was losing so much
money in my business that I thought I would be closing its doors. I was sick at
heart, believing that there was no way out of my situation. If you've recently
found your way out of a state of despair, you will have already found your place
on the cycle.
The final state
of the
Destroy
process is when we go into
Despair
right after hitting bottom. That's when our outlook is the darkest; when there's
no hope.
Hope
is the first positive emotion we feel as we begin to find our way out of the
emotional hole in which we find ourselves.
Despair
comes from believing there is no way out, while
Hope
says, there must be a way.
Hope
is the weakest of the positive emotions, but at least it has us looking in the
right direction.
Create: The New
Beginning
Once you have
destroyed your attachment to the current situation, the creative process begins
with a
Vision
of what our life might be like if we didn't have this problem. When this spark
of an idea, catches fire, it turns into a
Burning Desire,
giving us the motivation we will need to get the creative juices flowing. Our
move in consciousness from
Destroy
into
Create
is like being
Reborn.
Our new sense of aliveness gives us the necessary
Faith
in ourselves to make our
Vision
a reality. Our dream becomes real the moment we choose to
Be
the one who
Will
have the object of our desire.
Create
Continued
Because our
focus during the create phase of the cycle is on what we want instead of on who
we need to be, we seldom realize that we've just been transformed. The truth is,
who we were prior to the transformation could not have made the choice we've
just made.
Persist
In the Persist
quadrant we
Do
whatever we need to
Do to
Have
what we want from life. In this segment we are
Enthusiastic
about life in general and it shows. Life is a
Joy
because we
Love
ourselves and know that our dream is about to become a reality. We
Persist,
knowing that our hunger for that better life will soon be satisfied. We can
sit back and enjoy our success, right?
Sorry!
They lived happily ever after
is the bottom line only in fairy
tales.
Destroy
The only way we
can ever reach the other side of the lake is to cast off from this shore. But
most of us don't understand the Destroy process. We tend to look upon the
Destroy
phase of our lives as the end of something great and
wonderful, when we should be seeing it as the doorway to an exciting new
adventure.
We tend to
Destroy relationships when all we needed was to detach ourselves from the old
agreement so that we could recreate the relationship by making a new agreement.
Look at your
most recent success not as the completion of a goal, but as a temporary place of
rest, a plateau in your climb to self-discovery. Looking forward to your next
challenge, detaches you from your previous success and avoids the usual pain and
discontent.
Each time we've
used BE/DO/HAVE as the formula for creating a desired end result, we have viewed
that success as if it were the end of the road, as if there were no tomorrow.
Then we become unhappy when yesterday's victory no longer provides us with the
satisfaction it once did.
Much of our
unhappiness in life comes from trying to hang on to our successes. We hang on to
yesterday's satisfaction ignoring the fact that we have the power to make a new
choice.

Chapter 6 - The Cycle
Create-Persist-Destroy
from my book
"So, Why Aren't You Rich?" -
Pg. 157
The greatest experiences of our lives will happen
as we move toward a goal. That's when we're totally alive, filled with
love, joy and enthusiasm, while we are in the process of being and
becoming more than we were. The purpose of the Cycle of Life is
self-discovery, not material gain.
Only If You Can Give It Away
At the point
of completion, there are two things that can happen. We can sit back and
enjoy our success for as long as it will last, coasting into DESTROY, or
we can bypass the DESTROY phase by setting a new goal.

Chapter 19 - Find Yourself On The
Cycle
from my book
"Being The Solution" -
Pg 258
The Best Of Times
The absolute best times in my life were
experienced while I was inspired with some goal or purpose that captured
my full and enthusiastic attention. The very worst times of my life
happened when I found myself mired down in self-pity and without
purpose. We tend to look at the "up times" as our good fortune and
accept the "down times" as unfortunate twists of fate. But that's not
what they are!
Both Are BEING Choices
Would you be surprised if I told you that the
"up times" and the "down times" in your life were both BEING choices?
Once you accept the premise that every reality you've ever experienced
in life was the result of a BEING choice, you'll see how making a
different BEING choice during the detachment process could put you back
on the up side of the cycle and into creating a great new reality.
