The Destroy Process

The Eternal Mandate of Spirit - is that we continue to grow in consciousness. And that can't happen as long as we remain solidly attached to the current reality. We've realized a dream, but that dream of a reality no longer provides the satisfaction it once did. It really is time to move on. It is time to give up being who we are in favor of who we want to be. The detachment process is called "DESTROY".

Destroy is a necessary part of the cycle because it opens the door to a new beginning. But, if you are not aware of the destroy process, you could spend over half your life on the down side of the cycle while your ego resists transformations. Staying too long in Destroy is a detour from life.

Ego builds reality with the idea that security can be had only by hanging on to the status quo, while spirit moves us in the opposite direction of letting go and moving on. Spirit in us knows that real security can only come from discovering who we really are. Ego thinks we already know.

Ego's job of maintaining whatever illusion of reality we've chosen for ourselves is accomplished by screening out anything that doesn't fit. It feels threatened every time we propose a change in that reality.

Ego and spirit can be a great team, because spirit chooses who we shall be and ego provides us with the reality of that experience. But whenever it's time to choose a new reality, ego and spirit are at cross-purposes, for as long as it takes ego to accept the new reality. Overcoming ego's resistance to change will be easier if you recognize the holding back for what it is.

Ego's problem is that it has taken on the identity we've chosen for ourselves. Ego is the living manifestation of our self-concept being demonstrated as a material reality. You will have a better understanding of the ego's resistance to change, when you realize that a transformation, for the ego, is like dying in order to be reborn into that new identity. And since ego is never happy with the idea of dying, it just naturally resists the change.

We've all experienced pain and discontent in our lives, while in the process of destroying our attachment to a job or a relationship. Our identity was so tied into those relationships, we couldn't give them up without a great sense of loss. The detachment process is often a time of great depression in our lives.

But it needn't be that way. Destroy is a rough ride made easier when you know the shortcut. First, learn to recognize Destroy when it happens, accepting it as a necessary part of the self-discovery process. Just remember that ego is in charge of our lives most of the time. If you want to short-cut the Destroy process, you will need to learn how to overcome the ego's fear of change.

The Destroy Shortcut

The Secret to The Shortcut

Know that the purpose of Destroy is to free you from your current reality so you can choose a new and better reality. The pain will go away as soon as you choose.

The deep depression often experienced in the final stages of Destroy is your ego resisting transformation. Your ego, knowing that it must die in order to be reborn, resists the transformation with all its considerable might.

The Secret to The Bypass

Shed your tears and get it over with. Complete the process as quickly as possible.

 

Dying is never fun for the ego, but the experience is similar to that of the caterpillar waking up to discover it wings. It can fly.

 

Being reborn is a great and glorious experience; don't wait for the ego's permission to be reborn. Discover your wings and fly now. Choose!

 

Understanding the process and then accepting responsibility for your place on the cycle, gives you the power to eliminate much of the pain that usually comes with the Destroy process. You can take charge of your life by choosing out of Destroy and into Create at any time.

 

The sooner you detach yourself

from whatever

you can't seem to do without,

the better.

 

We have each been traveling this yellow brick road toward a higher consciousness all of our lives, without suspecting the direction or the destination. Somewhere down this road, we will finally come to know who we really are.

Success is defined as the completion of anything attempted and the satisfaction of completion rewards us for accomplishing that mission. But satisfaction never lasts. And when we are no longer satisfied with our circumstances, the resulting dissatisfaction sets the DESTROY Process in motion.

 

In fact, the DESTROY phase of the cycle actually begins in the moment of completing our goal. Our spirit knows that this minor accomplishment does not fulfill the true purpose of our life; it is merely one step in that direction. Before we can move on to a greater self-awareness, we must, each time, sooner or later, DESTROY our attachment to what we have just CREATED.

The Detachment Process

One would assume that the first step in the creating of a new reality would be to create. Not so! The first step toward that bright, shiny new reality for you, is when you sever your attachment to the old reality.

 

Once you accept the detachment process as a necessary part of the on-going process of growing in consciousness, you can move in, through and out of destroy quickly. Once you learn to read the signals, you can short cut your way out of the sadness and the unhappiness of the detachment process and get on with your life.

The creative process for mankind is BE DO HAVE. This is the only order of creation that works for us, and each step in the creative process is essential to the next step. You can't skip any of the steps. You must BE before you can DO and DO before you can HAVE.

Where We Get Stuck

It is in the HAVING part of the cycle that we become attached, and then we're stuck, unwilling to let go of our attachment to the status quo. Detaching is essential to the creative process and it is the most difficult step. Notice that you cannot get to where you want to be without leaving where you are now.
