She
Lived In Poverty With $300,000 in The Bank
As a boy of about 8 or 9, I sold
newspapers on the streets of downtown Albuquerque. Almost every day, at some
point in my daily route, I'd see "The Bag Lady". Everyone I knew felt sorry for
this old lady dressed in rags, and always present up and down the alleys and
streets of the city, collecting junk in her dilapidated push cart.
Feeling sorry for her, I even gave her
a dime from time to time. A dime doesn't sound like much, but back in the 30's,
you could go to the movies for a dime and buy a bag of popcorn for a nickel. It
was a sad day and a memorable day when "The Bag Lady" died.
Her death was the main front page story in the Albuquerque
Tribune that day.
Her Story -
She lived in poverty all her life and
died with $300,000 in the bank! Reflect on that for a moment, and ask yourself
how you feel about someone living her whole life in pitiful rags, when she could
have lived richly dressed and on easy street. $300,000 back then, was the
equivalent of having 3 million dollars in the bank today. How does thinking
about that make you feel?
I know when I read that story in the
paper, I felt conned! I wanted my dimes back. How dare she make me, a poor young
paperboy, feel sorry for her when she had all that money! And when I got over
feeling angry, I had to laugh at my anger. I had had the benefit of feeling good
when I gave her my dimes and nothing was really lost in those transactions,
except my pride when I found out I had been giving dimes to a miserly rich
person.
It was "The Bag Lady's" choice to
live in lack with all that money in the bank, but, I will never understand why
she bothered to save her money, when she chose to live the life she did. We all
have the power to change our life for the better, but are we using that power to
maintain a condition of lack in some form?
But How Can That Be?
You are an individualization of a God who experiences life
in and through you as you. The only way you could be experiencing lack in any of
its forms would be for you to ignore the fact that you have the power to write a
check on the bank of The Universe. Like "The Bag Lady", you could have written
that check at any time, but have you? If not, why haven't you?
Whatever you want from life is yours
for the asking, as soon as you can find the courage to step out of your box and
choose it. What's the secret to having the life you want? All you must do is
choose to BE the one to whom it belongs. Your BEING choice has the power of the
Universe behind it. Once you've truly chosen, the Law of Attraction clicks in to
provide everything belonging in the reality of your new BEING choice. How much
simpler could life be?

Chapter 1 - The Magic of Being
Transformed
from my book
"So, Why Aren't You Rich?" -
Pg. 28
Understanding the Ego
Since transformation is an ongoing process, you
might wonder why our ego reacts negatively to possible changes of
intention in our lives.
To understand the ego's fear of change, we need
first to realize that the ego is not programmed to think objectively
about our ideas. It reasons subjectively, reacting fearfully to any
proposed change of mind, because it thinks of itself as the
endangered idea.
The truth is that we are not our ideas, as our
ego would have us believe. We are instead, the one who has those ideas.

Chapter 3 - In The Image And Likeness
Of God
from my book
"Being The Solution" -
Pg. 40
God did not intend that you be poor, only that
you have the power to choose who you would be and reap the consequences
of that choice without His interference. It's up to you to discover your
power and choose who you will be, and it is God's guarantee that you
will get to experience life from whatever point of view you've chosen.
You live under a spiritual law, The Law of Correspondence, that reads
like this:
What you have in life
must correspond exactly to who you are.
That powerful law, dependable as the law of
gravity, guarantees that you will have from life whatever belongs to you
by right of consciousness.
