Although we lose sight of the process
from time to time, the creative process in mankind is BE DO HAVE. It works
like this: We choose who we will be and then, once ego accepts your new
BEING choice as the new reality, it takes over to provide us with the
experience of life from that new perspective.
Ego's function in life is to maintain our
chosen reality by screening out any and all ideas that don't fit.
Ego sees it's main job in life as
survival. And since the reality ego maintains is made out of nothing more
substantial than a preconceived notion about the way it is, it can't afford
to have you changing your mind about what's so.
You'll find that changing your point of
view is a much easier task if you can think of your ego as simply an idea
come to life--a perception of reality that's now in charge and being
demonstrated as your reality. For your ego to survive in and as the
perceived reality, your self-concept and your B.S. (Belief System) must
remain intact.
Ego's job is to keep that perceived
reality intact. Ego's defense system is, for the ego, a life or death
matter. When you try to change your viewpoint, your reality concept, your
ego knows it must die and be reborn into that new consciousness.
The point of all this being, unless you
understand and learn how to deal with your egos resistance to change, your
chances of a successful life style change are pretty slim. I'd say about 85
to 15 against your succeeding.
