Within each of us dwells the Spirit of God. Our mission in life is to discover
that inner power through the process of using it in solving life's problems. Spirit's eternal
mandate is that we continue growing in consciousness.
And because we grow most when facing life's problems, our journey home will be
filled with many challenges. God's will is that we stay on this path of
self-discovery. The trick is to know that the problems we face are
stepping stones not the real barriers they seem to be.
When we lose our way, God will put us back on the right path. Here's how:
-
When life gets bad, it will get even worse, until we decide we've had enough
and find the courage to choose out of it.
-
When we think we've got it made, when we're coasting, we'll be allowed to
coast until we hit bottom, so that we'll stop looking at the mud and focus on
the stars again.
-
Each time out of the ashes of failure, we'll rise again, but this time to new
heights.
This is just the way the Game of Life works until we finally wake up to the
fact that it's all a charade, an endless game that we play with ourselves
while in the process of discovering that we were never really a victim, that
we've always had the power, and there was never anything of real value
to lose in the Game.
Here's how we play the game: We give people or situations great power over
ourselves and then forget for a while that they or it has that power only
because we gave away our power to it or them. We use this experience to grow
on when able to take back our power.
Most problems, when squarely faced will turn out to be of our own creation,
and those problems will end when we take responsibility for having created
them.
If you find yourself believing that your swamp is for real, just remember that
it's built out of attitudes, opinions and points of view. To drain your swamp,
you need only change your perspective and adjust your attitude.
As in, "Wow, I'm the one who created the swamp in
which my alligators live. Therefore, I'm the one who can pull the plug that
drains the swamp!"
It should be obvious that it's next to impossible to get from where you are to
where you want to be, if you are refusing to see where you are now. But the
moment you take responsibility for what's going on in your life, you will have
found the power to change it.
Refusing to accept responsibility is like refusing to be where you are.
Another way of avoiding responsibility is to pretend the problem doesn't
exist.
Of course, I really do understand your point of view about
it. When you're up to your rump in alligators, it's hard to remember you
created the swamp.
